Joshua Brown, a 19-year-old student-athlete at Jones County Junior College, was initially arrested and charged with the murder of Jaylen Burns, a 21-year-old Jackson State University student, who was shot and killed on October 15, 2023, at the University Pointe Apartments on the JSU campus. Brown was taken into custody on October 19, 2023, and held at the Raymond Detention Center. However, new evidence later emerged suggesting that Brown might not have been involved in the crime.
