In the early morning hours of July 29, 2017, the body of 30-year-old Travis Bernard Cothran was discovered in a residence in the 800 block of Anderson Street in Blytheville, Arkansas. He had been fatally shot. At the time of his death, Cothran was on parole.
Investigators at the scene uncovered evidence suggesting the home was being used for the sale of narcotics. Various types of illegal drugs, scales, packaging materials, weapons, and ammunition were found inside the residence. Authorities also located property that they believed to have been stolen.
Following the discovery of his body, Cothran was sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death. The Blytheville Police Department opened a homicide investigation and began searching for the person or persons responsible for his death. At the time of the initial reports, no suspects had been publicly identified, and no arrests had been made in connection with the murder. Law enforcement officials appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.
