On the night of December 31, 2021, a male named Eric Edward Lane, 42, was fatally shot on West Chickasawba Street in Blytheville, Arkansas. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Lane deceased.
Following the shooting, the Blytheville Police Department began an investigation, interviewing several witnesses and a person of interest in connection with the case.
Despite these initial inquiries, no arrests have been made in Lane's death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In the wake of the incident, a petition titled 'Justice for Eric Lane' was created. The petition alleges that Lane was shot multiple times and that the incident was ruled as self-defense without a thorough investigation. Lane, who was born on August 18, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, had been a resident of Blytheville and was survived by his mother, siblings, and his companion of 15 years.
