In the summer of 2016, the life of 25-year-old Tardarious Williams of Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short by gun violence in Holly Springs, Mississippi. On July 8th, his body was discovered abandoned in a soybean field on South Mullins Road, leaving a community to grapple with the senseless loss. For many months, the case remained under investigation as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to Williams' death.
The pursuit of justice continued for over a year
and a half. In December 2017, law enforcement officials issued an arrest warrant for a suspect in the homicide case. The individual sought was identified as Jesus Najara, a 35-year-old man from the Memphis area. Najara, however, had gone on the run, eluding capture for several more months and adding to the anguish of those awaiting answers.
Finally, in April of 2018, a breakthrough came in the case. Agents with the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force, under the coordination of the U.S. Marshals Service, located and apprehended Jesus Najara in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was taken into custody on April 9th and awaited extradition back to Marshall County to face legal proceedings. Najara was subsequently charged with capital murder in connection with the death of Tardarious Williams, bringing a measure of progress in a long and difficult investigation.
