In the early morning hours of February 17, 2017, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence. Twenty-year-old Carlos Chairez was discovered in an SUV behind a residence on North Walthal Street, having been shot multiple times. First responders were called to the scene around 2:40 a.m., but it was too late. Chairez was pronounced dead at 3:07 a.m. from gunshot wounds that included injuries to his arm and head.
