In the spring of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of a city park in Holly Springs, Mississippi, leaving a young man dead and a community in shock. Jaquavion Markell-Bell, a 21-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on the evening of April 19, 2024. The incident occurred at a park located at College Street and North Boundary, where witnesses reported seeing a man firing a rifle towards a crowd.
