In the spring of 2017, the community of Holly Springs, Mississippi, was shaken by the violent death of 34-year-old Terry Jerome Bean Holloway. On April 29th, Holloway was driving his car near the intersection of West College Avenue and McKinney Street when he was fatally shot in what the local police chief described as an ambush. Officers responded to the scene around 12:40 a.m. to find Holloway’s wrecked vehicle and his body inside. Witnesses reported seeing three males in dark clothing fleeing the area immediately after the shooting.
The investigation that followed involved the Holly Springs Police Department, the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Their collaborative efforts led to the identification and apprehension of four suspects within a week of the incident. A father and son, 39-year-old Antonio Sims Sr. and 17-year-old Antonio Sims Jr., were among the first to be taken into custody. Sims Sr. was located by a Holly Springs police officer who spotted his vehicle, and Sims Jr. was brought to the police department by his mother.
Two other suspects, 18-year-old Terry Louis Bolton and 20-year-old Cordarrius Hardin, were apprehended by U.S. Marshals. Bolton was located in Memphis, Tennessee, while Hardin was found in Byhalia, Mississippi. All four individuals were charged with murder. Authorities believed that at least three of the suspects were armed during the fatal shooting.
Following their arrests, all four suspects were held in the Marshall County jail, with their bonds initially set at $1 million each. Antonio Sims Jr., despite his age, was slated to be charged as an adult. In a later development, Sims Jr.'s bond was reduced, and he was released on the condition of wearing a GPS ankle monitor. However, he later violated the terms of his release by cutting off the monitor, leading to a manhunt and his subsequent surrender to U.S. Marshals. He was then held without bond pending his court proceedings. At the time of these events, Antonio Sims Sr., Terry Louis Bolton, and Cordarrius Hardin remained in jail without bond. Bolton had been out on bond for a previous aggravated assault charge, which was revoked upon his arrest for Holloway's murder.
