In a tragic turn of events on a January evening in Jackson, Mississippi, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of violence that also claimed the life of a beloved community figure. Jarvis Birtfield, a 19-year-old male, was fatally shot on January 19, 2018, on Scott Street. The incident unfolded shortly before 12:30 p.m., leaving two families and the wider community in mourning.
