In the early morning hours of June 6, 2021, a domestic disturbance call to the Biloxi Police Department led to the discovery of a heart-wrenching scene on South Shore Drive. Inside the home of 34-year-old Keli Gabrielle Mornay, officers found her and her boyfriend, Byrain Johnson, both deceased from gunshot wounds. Their infant son, seven-month-old Brixx Nola Mornay Johnson, was also found with a critical gunshot wound.

The young child was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Investigators determined that Johnson had forcibly entered Keli's home, where he shot both her and their infant son before turning the gun on himself in a devastating act of murder-suicide. Present in the home at the time of the incident were Keli's two older sons, who were unharmed.

The community was left to mourn the loss of a mother and her baby boy. Brixx, born on October 22, 2020, was described as a vibrant and happy baby who was adored by his mother, brothers, and extended family. In the wake of this tragedy, Keli's mother, Renata Flot-Patterson, has become an advocate for domestic violence awareness, sharing her family's painful story to help others recognize the warning signs and seek assistance. As the perpetrator died at the scene, no further arrests were made in connection with this case.
