In the early morning hours of July 21, 2021, the life of Darreyun James Pendleton, a Black male, was tragically cut short in a hail of gunfire at the Cloverdale Apartment Complex in Brookhaven, Mississippi. The Brookhaven Police Dispatch received multiple 911 calls at approximately 5:38 a.m. reporting that a person had been shot at the complex located at 900 Williams Street.
