In the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, September 19, 2021, the quiet intersection of Vanzie Street and Rance Drive in Brookhaven, Mississippi, became a crime scene. Around 4:45 a.m., officers responded to a call and discovered the body of a man in the street. The victim was identified as 23-year-old Tarvauirs Lyons, a male who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was sent for an autopsy to officially determine the cause of death.
