In the early hours of a Friday morning in Brookhaven, Mississippi, a festive birthday celebration at the Oasis Club turned into a scene of violence and tragedy. On November 24, 2017, Billy Ray Thomas Jr., a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot as he was leaving the private party. The incident, which occurred around 12:15 a.m., also resulted in injuries to six other individuals, sending shockwaves through the community.
