On July 15, 2022, Robert Harold Nelson Jr., a 38-year-old male, was fatally shot in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident occurred while he was engaged in the routine task of putting air in his vehicle's tires at an Exxon gas station located on North State Street. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. During the same incident, a bystander was also struck by gunfire but fortunately survived.
It was reported that the surviving victim and Nelson were not acquainted with each other.
Known for his energetic personality and radiant smile, Nelson was a father of three children: a son, Jonathan, and two daughters, Takyla and Alaysia. He was an employee of Douglas Express Delivery in Jackson. His sudden and violent death has left his family, including his mother Carolyn Catchings, seeking answers and closure.
