On October 24, 2022, a violent incident unfolded in Laurel, Mississippi, claiming the life of Travion Barnett, a 22-year-old Black male. The tragedy occurred just after midday outside Loper’s Laundry, a local laundromat where Barnett was seated inside a parked vehicle. Around 12:05 p.m., the Laurel Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the location.
