On September 20, 2023, 32-year-old Jeremy Jermain Jones was fatally shot at the South Park Village Apartments in Laurel, Mississippi. The Laurel Police Department identified 36-year-old Douglas Haynes, also known as "Rudy," as the primary suspect in the shooting. Haynes was considered armed and dangerous, and authorities believed he remained in or around Jones County. To evade capture, he was known to disguise himself by dressing in women's clothing.
