On the night of New Year's Eve in 2016, a celebration in Oklahoma City was irrevocably shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of Jamal Sandu Barkus. The 41-year-old male was attending a party at a home near Northeast 32nd Street and Kelley Avenue when the festivities took a dark turn. In the midst of the gathering, an altercation broke out, escalating quickly and tragically.
