In the summer of 2021, a violent and complex altercation at an Oklahoma City apartment complex tragically ended the life of 26-year-old Alex Garcia. A Hispanic male, Garcia was found dead on July 7, 2021, at the Arden Park Apartments, having sustained a laceration to his neck and multiple gunshot wounds. The events leading to his death began when he reportedly arrived at the apartment of Elizette Ferreira armed with an axe.
According to statements, Elizette's brother, 20-year-old Eddie
Ferreira, and their cousin, Sergio Marquez, arrived at the apartment and kicked in the door. A chaotic scene unfolded, during which Alex Garcia shot and killed Eddie Ferreira. In the moments that followed, Elizette Ferreira allegedly grabbed a knife and pursued Garcia.
Security footage from the apartment complex captured parts of the fatal encounter. The video reportedly showed Sergio Marquez making a phone call and later receiving a gun from his brother, Carlos Marquez. The footage also showed Elizette Ferreira chasing Garcia with a knife and Sergio Marquez firing shots as Garcia tried to flee the scene.
Following an investigation into the double homicide, Oklahoma City police arrested Elizette Ferreira, Sergio Marquez, and Carlos Marquez. All three were subsequently charged with murder in connection with Alex Garcia's death, bringing a swift but somber turn to a case that involved multiple family members in a deadly confrontation.
