On the evening of July 7, 2021, a violent altercation at the Arden Park Apartments in Northwest Oklahoma City resulted in the shooting deaths of two men, including 20-year-old Eddie Ferreira. Responding to reports of gunfire at approximately 6:56 p.m., police discovered Ferreira and 26-year-old Alex Garcia deceased at the scene. Ferreira was a Hispanic male.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed a complex and tragic series of events involving members of Ferreira's own
family. According to police, an altercation occurred that involved both victims and Ferreira's 23-year-old sister, Elizette Ferreira. Accounts suggest that Alex Garcia had arrived at Elizette Ferreira's apartment, allegedly armed with an axe. In response, Eddie Ferreira and his cousin, Sergio Marquez, reportedly kicked down the door to his sister's apartment. During the ensuing chaos, Garcia shot and killed Eddie Ferreira.
In the immediate aftermath of his brother's death, a chaotic scene unfolded. Elizette Ferreira is said to have grabbed a knife and pursued Garcia. Simultaneously, Sergio Marquez reportedly retrieved a gun from his brother, Carlos Marquez. Garcia was subsequently found dead with a laceration to his neck and multiple gunshot wounds. Security footage reportedly captured parts of the incident, including Elizette Ferreira chasing Garcia with a knife and Sergio Marquez firing shots as Garcia attempted to flee.
Following the investigation, Elizette Ferreira was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Authorities also arrested Sergio Marquez and Carlos Marquez in connection with the homicides, with all three facing murder charges. The deaths of Eddie Ferreira and Alex Garcia were recorded as the 42nd and 43rd homicides in Oklahoma City for 2021.
