Summary based on 4 sources
Sara Browne, 36, was found dead on the night of Sunday, July 30, 2023, in the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue in Northwest Baltimore. She had suffered blunt force injuries. The Baltimore Police Department investigated, and the Baltimore Sun's homicide database lists her death as a homicide.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Northern District officers arrived at the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue at around 10:25 p.m. that Sunday "after reports of an aggravated assault." Police said "a resident in the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue told officers that they found an unresponsive 36-year-old woman." Officers "identified signs of blunt force trauma" to her body, and after medics arrived she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the medical examiner's office would perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. WMAR-2 News reported that police were "considering her death a homicide," and the Baltimore Witness published the police appeal for information under the headline "Northern District Detectives Seek Answers in 'Blunt Force Trauma' Homicide Investigation." A week later Fox45 reported the police identification, giving her date of birth as June 12, 1987.

The police account raises questions it does not answer. It does not say whether she was found indoors or outside, whether she lived on the block, or whether she knew the resident who found her. Police did not say how long she had been there before she was found, and they did not describe a suspect, a motive or any witnesses. No follow up report on the case could be found.

Beyond her name, her age and the block where she was found, almost nothing about Sara Browne has been made public. No obituary, memorial page or family fundraiser could be found for this story, and no news outlet appears to have spoken with anyone who knew her. She surely had family, friends or neighbors who remember who she was, but none of that has entered the public record. Her name is shared by other women in Maryland, so searches for her turn up people who have nothing to do with this case.

The Sun placed the block in Central Park Heights, part of the larger Park Heights community in Northwest Baltimore. Park Heights Avenue is one of the main roads through that part of the city, lined with rowhouses, churches, carryouts and corner stores, and the Pimlico Race Course, home of the Preakness Stakes, sits a short distance to the north.

Homicides in Baltimore began falling steeply in 2023 and 2024, reaching the lowest totals in decades, yet many killings from those years remain unsolved.

No arrest, criminal charge or court case connected to the death of Sara Browne could be found in news archives or public records. More than three years later, there is no public sign that anyone has been held responsible. Anyone who was on or near the 3900 block of Park Heights Avenue on the evening of July 30, 2023, or who saw Sara Browne earlier that day or knew who she was with, may be able to help. Even a small detail, such as a name overheard, a vehicle seen nearby or a conversation remembered, can help detectives move a case forward.
