In the late hours of September 5, 2017, the life of 21-year-old Shayron Nichelle Brown was tragically cut short in a wave of violence that swept through the Savanna Landing apartment complex in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Brown, a young mother who was in the early stages of pregnancy, was discovered deceased inside one of the apartments, becoming the second victim of a grim sequence of events that had begun to unfold hours earlier.
Earlier that day, in the parking lot of the same complex,
40-year-old Teddy Prejean was fatally shot. Investigators were able to connect the two homicides when ballistic evidence confirmed that the same. 45 caliber handgun was used in both slayings. This crucial link pointed to a single perpetrator for the deaths of both Brown and Prejean.
The investigation led authorities to Keenan White, who was swiftly identified as the primary suspect in the double homicide. White was already on law enforcement's radar, having been listed as one of Tulsa's Most Wanted in August of that year. Shortly after the killings, he was apprehended on several outstanding warrants. Surveillance footage and forensic evidence ultimately connected White to both crime scenes. Following his arrest, the weapon believed to have been used in the murders was recovered along the path he took after the shootings. Keenan White was subsequently charged with three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Shayron Brown, Teddy Prejean, and Brown's unborn child.
