On a summer evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a dispute that began in the parking garage of the Osage Casino tragically escalated, leading to the death of 49-year-old Tabitha Sinclair on July 9, 2022. Sinclair, a White/Caucasian woman, was involved in an altercation with another woman, later identified as Jacqueline Mills.
Following the initial confrontation, the conflict spilled out onto the streets of Tulsa. Mills pursued the vehicle in which Sinclair was a passenger.
Near the intersection of LL Tisdale Parkway and Highway 11, Mills opened fire on the car, striking Sinclair in the chest. Another passenger in the vehicle, a man, was also wounded in the arm but was expected to recover. Sinclair was rushed to a local hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
Law enforcement officials quickly launched an investigation into the shooting. Homicide detectives identified Jacqueline Mills as the primary suspect. She was located and taken into custody near 31st Street and Sheridan Road. Initially, Mills was booked into jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
The legal proceedings that followed saw Jacqueline Mills ultimately plead guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree murder. In August 2024, nearly two years after the fatal encounter, Mills was sentenced to 45 years in prison for her role in the death of Tabitha Sinclair, bringing a legal conclusion to a case that began with a heated argument and ended in a senseless loss of life.
