In the winter of 2017, the life of 33-year-old Marquillon Glover was cut short in a tragic act of violence in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On the evening of December 17th, outside an after-hours club in the 1600 block of South Memorial Drive, Glover was fatally shot. A Black/African American man, his death would unravel a story of gang affiliation and rumored retaliation, sending ripples through the community.
The investigation into Glover's murder pointed towards a motive rooted in a past conflict.
Authorities believed the killing was an act of revenge for a homicide that had occurred years prior, a crime some suspected Glover of having orchestrated. However, investigators found no evidence to support his involvement in that earlier death. The search for his killer led authorities to 36-year-old Joe Goodjoint.
On January 31, 2018, the efforts of the Tulsa Fugitive Warrants and the Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force culminated in the arrest of Goodjoint. He was apprehended as he was leaving an apartment in east Tulsa. Faced with the evidence against him, Goodjoint eventually pleaded guilty to the murder of Marquillon Glover. In August of 2018, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison, bringing a close to the legal chapter of this violent incident.
