In the early moments of a Saturday morning in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the life of 24-year-old Gregory Collins was tragically cut short. On March 23, 2019, a sudden noise outside a mobile home would set in motion a fatal sequence of events. Collins, a resident of Tulsa, went to see what was happening. What followed was a desperate attempt to escape a violent intrusion.
After investigating the sound, Collins ran back into a bedroom, trying to conceal himself under a bed. His efforts were in vain.
A man named Anthony Drake Ahaisse entered the room and fired twice under the bed, striking and killing Collins. A witness, who was Ahaisse's ex-girlfriend, was present during the horrifying ordeal. Investigators later described the act as one of rage.
Shortly after the shooting, at approximately 12:20 a.m., a Tulsa police officer noticed a white pickup truck speeding and driving recklessly. The officer pulled the vehicle over and took the driver, identified as Anthony Ahaisse, into custody. The officer observed blood on Ahaisse's clothes and discovered a loaded Glock 22 and a shotgun in the truck. Ballistics testing later confirmed that the Glock was the weapon used to murder Gregory Collins.
Anthony Drake Ahaisse, who was 30 years old at the time of his indictment, was charged with the murder of Gregory Collins. In June 2021, Ahaisse, a citizen of the Seminole Nation, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in federal court. Subsequently, he was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release.
