On a summer afternoon in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the life of Richard Jerald Parker, a 57-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On July 12, 2014, Parker was discovered shot to death inside his SUV in the parking lot of the Tonight Inn and Suites. The grim discovery was made around 2:20 p.m. after a woman flagged down a passing patrol officer to report the shooting. Parker, a beloved father and fiancé, was found behind the wheel, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
