In the summer of 2021, the life of 17-year-old Haylie Gonzalez was tragically cut short. The young female vanished from a Fourth of July party in Oklahoma City, sparking a frantic search by her loved ones. Her disappearance, which began at a festive gathering, would end with a grim discovery and a chilling account of her final hours.
Haylie was last seen at a party hosted by 18-year-old Eduardo Bonilla-Lopez.
At some point during the night, a friend of Haylie's received a frightened call from her, pleading for a ride. However, when the friend arrived, Haylie was nowhere to be found. Instead, the friend reportedly saw Bonilla-Lopez outside, washing his hands. This eerie detail was an early premonition of the darkness that had unfolded.
The harrowing details of Haylie's death emerged through a police investigation, painting a picture of a brutal and callous crime. It is alleged that Bonilla-Lopez shot Haylie in the head. In a particularly disturbing act, he then reportedly used FaceTime to call a witness, showing Haylie in the passenger seat of his car, severely injured and bleeding, yet still alive. He allegedly asked the witness for assistance in disposing of her body. When the witness urged him to take her to a hospital, he refused, reportedly stating he did not want to go to prison.
The search for Haylie ended in August when her body was discovered inside an apartment building. The weeks of uncertainty for her family and friends culminated in the confirmation of their worst fears. Following an investigation, Eduardo Bonilla-Lopez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping. During questioning, he allegedly admitted that Haylie had been shot at his home and that he had arranged for someone else to dispose of her body.
