In the early morning hours of a summer day in Oklahoma City, a gathering at an apartment complex near the I-240 Service Road and South May Avenue took a tragic turn. On June 26, 2022, 24-year-old Tyree Donte Lowman, a Black male, was at a party when an altercation broke out. The dispute escalated, leading to gunfire.
Friends rushed Lowman to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Investigators with the Oklahoma City Police Department quickly began to piece together the events of that fatal morning. Their investigation pointed to a 15-year-old, Stephen Rose, as the individual who allegedly shot Lowman during the fight.
Following the incident, police located Rose at another apartment complex in the 1400 block of SW 74th Street. He was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Juvenile Justice Center on a complaint of first-degree murder. The investigation was still in its early stages, and authorities asked anyone with information to come forward.
