In the spring of 2015, a young man's life was cut short on the streets of Oklahoma City. Curlee Harper, an 18-year-old male, was on foot in the 1500 block of S Indiana Avenue on the evening of March 24th. An altercation erupted between Harper and at least one other individual, which tragically escalated to the point of gunfire. Harper was struck and subsequently rushed to OU Medical Center for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries.
His death marked the 15th homicide in the city that year.
In the immediate aftermath, the Oklahoma City Police Department began their investigation, initially with no identified suspects. They appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. The case saw a significant development on April 9, 2015, when authorities arrested 19-year-old Jalen Turner. He was taken into custody on a complaint of first-degree murder in connection with Harper's death.
The investigation did not end with Turner's arrest. Authorities continued to pursue leads and later issued a warrant for another individual, Samuel Leon Tubbs, in connection with the fatal shooting. The ongoing legal proceedings and the search for the second individual signaled a complex case with multiple potential participants in the events that led to the untimely death of Curlee Harper.
