On the evening of December 2, 2015, a chaotic sequence of events in Oklahoma City led to the untimely death of 18-year-old Ruben Rodriquez. The young man, a male, was reportedly engaged in criminal activity with an associate, Christian Navarro, at an apartment complex situated on the W. I-240 Service Road when he was fatally shot.
In an attempt to escape the scene following the shooting, Rodriquez and Navarro fled in a vehicle.
Their flight came to an abrupt end when they were involved in a car crash. Responding authorities discovered the gravely wounded Rodriquez inside the wrecked vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately died from the gunshot wound.
Christian Navarro, who had fled the crash site, was later apprehended by police. Although investigators did not identify Navarro as the shooter, he was arrested and charged with felony murder. This charge was brought because Rodriquez was killed during the commission of a felony in which Navarro was a participant. The person who fired the shot that killed Ruben Rodriquez has not been identified by police, and the investigation into the city's 83rd homicide of 2015 remains ongoing.
