On May 20, 2016, Mike Chau, age 30, was shot and killed at the Southern Oaks apartment complex in southwest Oklahoma City. The shooting took place early in the morning around 5:40 a.m. after Chau told friends he was going to the store. Residents reported hearing a loud argument followed by multiple gunshots. Chau was found by friends lying in the courtyard and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
