In the autumn of 2021, a burst of violence cut short the life of Darnell J. Jones in Oklahoma City. On the afternoon of October 27th, police were called to a business located at 1012 N. Indiana Ave. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered 43-year-old Darnell Jones, a Black male, who had succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds.
The scene was quickly secured, and an investigation into the circumstances of his death commenced.
Investigators on-site were able to piece together crucial information about the moments leading up to the tragic event. They determined that the individuals responsible had fled the scene in a vehicle. This critical lead was immediately shared with other law enforcement agencies in the area. The coordination proved fruitful, as the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was able to locate and conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle as it traveled westbound on Interstate 40 in the western part of the state.
The traffic stop led to the apprehension of two individuals. Simon Tiscareno and Aquarius Easter were taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Following their arrests, they were booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. Tiscareno faced a complaint of first-degree murder, while Easter was arrested on a complaint of accessory to murder. The investigation into the death of Darnell Jones was announced as ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
