A family argument in Oklahoma City on a Thursday afternoon took a tragic turn, leaving one brother dead and the other in custody. Otis Butler, a 48-year-old Black male, was shot and killed on July 7, 2022, following a dispute with his older brother. The fatal encounter happened around 4:30 p.m. at a residence on Northwest 58th Street.
The altercation between Otis and his brother, 51-year-old Eric Butler, escalated to the point where Eric allegedly shot his younger brother.
When police arrived at the home, they found Otis Butler deceased at the scene. Eric Butler remained at the residence and was taken into custody by the officers.
Following the incident, Eric Butler was transported to police headquarters for questioning. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center. He faces a complaint of first-degree murder in connection with his brother's death. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
