In August 2018, a family gathering at a home in the rural community of Wittmann, northwest of Phoenix in Maricopa County, turned into a triple homicide that claimed the life of Adrian Miramontes-Nunez, a 22-year-old Hispanic/Latino man. Adrian had deep ties to the Phoenix area; his obituary and funeral arrangements were handled through a Phoenix funeral home, reflecting that his life and community were centered there even though the shooting occurred outside the city limits.
