In the early hours of a Monday morning in Lexington, Kentucky, the life of 32-year-old Micole Dent was tragically cut short. On April 4, 2011, Dent, a Black male, was outside the This is It bar on Fortune Drive when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. in the establishment's parking lot.
According to witnesses at the scene, Dent had been inside the bar and was in the parking lot speaking with two other individuals when the events unfolded. Two men, whose faces were obscured by masks and who were dressed in dark clothing, approached Dent. They fired multiple shots, striking him in the torso before fleeing the scene on foot. Emergency services transported Dent to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
In the wake of the shooting, Lexington police began a search for the two male suspects. As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide.
