On June 4, 2022, 35-year-old Joseph Demetrius "Meachie" Richardson was fatally shot outside the Unity Worship Center in Lexington, Kentucky. The incident occurred during the funeral service for Malcolm Long, another shooting victim. Richardson sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:42 p.m. A female victim also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
