In a quiet home in Vanceburg, Kentucky, the life of 36-year-old Crystal D. Ball, a female, came to a tragic end on Sunday, June 5, 2016. On that Sunday afternoon, Kentucky State Police received a report that two bodies had been discovered at a residence on Quicks Run Road. Upon their arrival, troopers and detectives found Crystal and 51-year-old Kevin E. Ball deceased inside the home.
Both individuals had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation by the Kentucky State Police pointed towards a murder-suicide. Authorities believe that Kevin Ball shot Crystal Ball before turning the weapon on himself. Crystal, born on August 15, 1979, was a well-educated woman who had built a career in law. After graduating with honors from Morehead State University in 2001, she went on to earn her Juris Doctorate in Law from Vanderbilt Law School in 2004. She served as a public defender for the Boyd and Mason County offices. Her untimely death left her parents and a brother to mourn her passing.
