Do you know who murdered Na-Chan Henderson? In the summer of 2018, a tragedy struck a Louisville family when 40-year-old Na-Chan Nacole Henderson, a Black female, was killed in a brazen drive-by shooting. On the afternoon of July 12th, Henderson was simply a passenger in a car, getting a ride from a friend to go pay her electric bill. Seconds after speaking with her children, the vehicle she was in was ambushed near the intersection of Ninth Street and Breckinridge Street.
The car was riddled with dozens of bullets, a testament to the violence of the attack.
Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, the car having come to a stop after striking a utility pole. The male driver of the vehicle was also shot and was transported to the hospital in serious condition. Her children, who were home just a block away from the shooting, heard the gunfire that ended their mother's life. Family members, including her daughter, firmly believe that Henderson was an innocent victim, caught in a conflict that had nothing to do with her.
In the days that followed, family and friends gathered at the site of the shooting, creating a memorial of balloons and stuffed animals. They remembered a loving mother of eight and pleaded with the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. Henderson's family expressed their profound grief and heartbreak, urging the person or persons responsible to come forward and turn themselves in. Despite their pleas and the ongoing investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Na-Chan Henderson, leaving her family still waiting for justice.
