Peggy Burns, a 66-year-old White female, was tragically killed on Saturday, December 12, 2020, in Louisville, Kentucky. A dedicated pharmacist for over three decades, she had retired from the V.A. Medical Center after a long career that also included service at Kosair Children's Hospital. Her life was cut short in a violent act that also claimed the life of her 68-year-old husband, Donald Burns.
On that Saturday afternoon, officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department were
dispatched to the 800 block of Dorsey Way in eastern Jefferson County following reports of a double shooting. Upon their arrival at approximately 4:10 p.m., they discovered the bodies of Peggy and Donald Burns in the driveway of their home. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately launched an investigation into the double homicide. In the days following the shooting, the Jefferson County Coroner's Office formally identified the victims. Despite the ongoing investigation, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or discussed a potential motive for the killings. The case remains unsolved, leaving a void in the lives of their family, friends, and the wider Louisville community who continue to await answers and hope for justice.
