On the night of June 23, 2010, Miles T. Moore, a 21-year-old man from Kansas City, Missouri, was driving through the area of Vineyard Road when violence found him in motion. Just after 10:15 p.m., police were called to the 4000 block of Vineyard Road on a report of a shooting, and they arrived to a scene that looked like a crash at first glance: a black SUV had slammed into a tree, its front end wrecked, the street suddenly quiet except for the urgency of flashing lights and voices in the dark. ...
