In the summer of 2019, the life of Judy Faye Stalcup, a 60-year-old woman from West Paducah, Kentucky, came to a tragic and violent end. On the evening of July 10th, the McCracken County Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting at a residence on Noble Road. When deputies arrived, they found that Judy had sustained a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of medical personnel who rushed her to a local hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
The only other person present at the home was her ex-husband, Anthony Stalcup, with whom she was still living despite their divorce.
In the initial hours of the investigation, Anthony Stalcup provided a harrowing account of the events, claiming that Judy had taken her own life. However, as detectives delved deeper into the circumstances surrounding her death, inconsistencies began to emerge in his story. Under further questioning, his narrative shifted, and he then alleged that the shooting was a tragic accident. This change in his account raised suspicions among the investigators, leading to his arrest on the same evening of his ex-wife's death. The investigation moved forward, and the case was brought before a grand jury.
The grand jury indicted Anthony Stalcup on charges of murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
