In the winter of 1997, a tragedy unfolded in West Paducah, Kentucky, that would forever alter the community. On the cold morning of December 1, 15-year-old Kayce Michelle Steger, a female student at Heath High School, joined a group of her friends for a prayer circle before the start of the school day. This gathering, a routine display of faith for the students, was shattered by an act of violence that ended the lives of three young women and injured five other students.
