Le Truong, a 15-year-old Vietnamese male and a freshman at Iroquois High School, was shot and killed in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 10, 2016. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. in the 4900 block of South First Street near Tenny Avenue. Truong was walking home from a local community center when he was struck by a gunshot to the stomach. He was transported to University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries less than an hour after the shooting.
It was reported that police believed Truong was not the intended victim in what they suspected was a drive-by shooting.
The investigation into Le Truong's death led to an arrest a week later. On November 17, 2016, Louisville Metro Police stopped a stolen vehicle that matched the description of a car involved in the homicide. After interviewing the occupants, a juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Truong's murder. Because the suspect was a minor, his name was not publicly released at the time of the arrest.
In April of the following year, a Jefferson County Grand Jury handed down an indictment against 16-year-old Mathew P. Bullard. Bullard was charged with murder and possession of a handgun by a minor in connection with the death of Le Truong. It remains unclear from the available information whether Bullard was the same juvenile who had been arrested in the stolen car the previous November.
