In the early morning hours of June 5, 2017, the life of 24-year-old Raheem Alves, a Black male from Providence, Rhode Island, was tragically cut short. Alves was the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred on Sayles Street in the South Side of Providence. The incident, which also left another person wounded, marked another moment of gun violence in the city. Emergency services responded to the scene, but Alves succumbed to his injuries.
