On the afternoon of February 8, 2018, Nelson Lopez, a 36-year-old Hispanic male, arrived at his residence in the 8600 block of Bluebell Drive in the Okolona neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Lopez and his girlfriend were returning home when they interrupted a burglary in progress. Upon pulling into their driveway, they observed a man and a woman exiting from the side of their house. Instead of fleeing the scene immediately, the intruders entered a vehicle, and a dangerous pursuit ensued.
