Do you know who murdered Troyshawn Young?
In the late hours of a Saturday in March 2017, the life of 17-year-old Troyshawn Young, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. The teenager was discovered in a vehicle in the parking lot of a Chili's restaurant on Bardstown Road, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police were called to the scene just before 11 p.m. and found him unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at approximately 11:05 p.m.

Investigators later determined that the shooting had not occurred at the restaurant but rather several blocks away in the 3100 block of Del Brook Avenue. It is believed that after being shot, Troyshawn and another individual in the vehicle were attempting to drive to a hospital for help. Their journey for aid ended in the restaurant parking lot where they stopped to seek assistance. The second victim in the vehicle survived and was transported to University Hospital.

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation. They appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for Troyshawn's death. However, in the initial stages of the investigation, police did not have any suspects.

As of today, the murder of Troyshawn Young remains an open and unsolved case. Despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to list his death as an open homicide, a painful reminder for his family and the community of a young life lost to gun violence and a quest for justice that is yet to be fulfilled.
