In the late hours of a Wednesday night, transitioning into the early moments of Thursday, November 8, 2018, the life of 18-year-old Robert S. Biggers, Jr. was tragically cut short. The young man, known to friends and family as 'ChiChi,' was in an apartment building on Broadleaf Drive, near Richmond Road in southwest Louisville, when the sound of at least three gunshots shattered the midnight quiet. When police responded to the reports of a shooting, they found Robert, a male, fatally wounded.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office would later confirm that he died from a gunshot wound.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, officers at the scene questioned an individual. However, no charges were filed in connection with the incident. Law enforcement officials indicated that they were not actively searching for any suspects, and the investigation was to be handed over to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office for a final review. Robert was a member of the 'N' Street Baptist Church and was just beginning to forge his path in life. He had recently started his first job and was remembered by a cousin as a kind soul who was in the process of turning his life around. His family, including his parents, Danielle Stevens and Robert Biggers, Sr., and his sister, Kaylyn, were left to mourn the sudden and violent loss of a loved one who, they felt, was missing out on so much of what life had yet to offer.
