In the winter of 2019, the life of 31-year-old Christopher Powell of Georgetown, Kentucky, was tragically cut short in the small city of Falmouth. On Sunday, January 20, 2019, Powell sustained fatal injuries on Second Street and was later pronounced dead at Harrison County Memorial Hospital. While initial reports from the Kentucky State Police did not specify the nature of his injuries, it was later confirmed that he had been shot.
The investigation into Powell's death quickly led to the identification of three suspects. Within days, on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, investigators announced the arrests of Shawn Richie, 45, of Falmouth, and Jason Wallace, 39, of Butler. Both men were charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection with Powell's death.
A third individual, Christopher Harris, 41, also from Falmouth, was arrested and faced charges of tampering with physical evidence and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive. All three men were taken into custody and booked at the Boone County Detention Center as the Kentucky State Police continued their investigation into the incident that led to the untimely death of Christopher Powell.
