In the autumn of 2020, a young life full of promise was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. Arianna Henderson, a 17-year-old African American female, was fatally shot on the evening of November 7th in the Jacobs neighborhood. The incident occurred near the intersection of Kahlert Avenue and West Southern Heights Avenue, where police responded to a report of a shooting around 8:30 p.m.
Arianna, who resided on Kahlert Avenue, was found with gunshot wounds and rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries.
Known affectionately as 'Naana' or 'Shonna Mommas,' Arianna was a student at Iroquois High School, part of the class of 2021. She had aspirations of pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse after graduation. Beyond her academic pursuits, Arianna possessed an entrepreneurial spirit, having started her own business called 'NaaNa's Boutique.' She was remembered by her family as a creative and determined young woman who knew what she wanted in life. Her vibrant personality left a lasting impression on those who knew her, and she was cherished by her parents, siblings, and extended family.
In the wake of her death, the Louisville Metro Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation. However, despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made in connection with Arianna's murder, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Her family, particularly her mother, has continued to advocate for justice, keeping Arianna's memory alive and urging anyone with information to come forward. The lack of resolution in her case has been a source of ongoing pain for her loved ones and the wider community, a stark reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence.
