Anna Christine Fisher, a 55-year-old female, was found deceased in her home on Indian Ridge Road in an east Louisville, Kentucky neighborhood on the evening of January 1, 2015. Her death marked the first homicide of the new year in the city. Friends and family described her as a giving, kind-hearted, and positive woman who would be deeply missed. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she had just celebrated Christmas Eve with her family days before her tragic death.
The investigation
into her death quickly led Louisville Metro Police to a suspect. Within a day, an arrest was made in connection with the case. The individual taken into custody was identified as William Crockett, who was described as Fisher's ex-boyfriend. According to family members, Fisher had recently ended her relationship with Crockett. They believed the motive for the murder stemmed from the breakup, suggesting a sentiment of 'if I can't have you, nobody can.' While her children did not know Crockett well, they recalled some red flags and described him as having a 'fake personality.'
Following his arrest, William Crockett was charged with murder and burglary. He was held on a $500,000 bond and pleaded not guilty to the charges. Subsequently, a grand jury indicted him on both the murder and burglary charges. During the investigation, police attempted to interview Crockett, but he declined to provide a statement, making it difficult for authorities to pinpoint an exact motive from his perspective. Fisher's family expressed their desire for justice, acknowledging that no punishment could truly compensate for the loss of their loved one and the grandmother to her seven grandchildren.
