In the winter of 2020, the life of 17-year-old Jamya Latrice Lewis, a Black female, was tragically cut short on the streets of Louisville, Kentucky. On the night of December 2nd, gunshots rang out in the 2800 block of South Third Street, near the University of Louisville campus. When Louisville Metro Police Department officers arrived around 11 p.m., they found Jamya in critical condition, having been shot in the head.
