On a Tuesday night, October 5, 2021, the life of Steven Q. Vanover, Jr., a 46-year-old White/Caucasian male from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 10:30 p.m., Louisville Metro Police Department officers made their way to the 3800 block of Blevins Gap Road. In this area, not far from the natural landscape of Jefferson Memorial Forest, they found Vanover unresponsive.
He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial discovery launched a homicide investigation led by the LMPD's Homicide Unit. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office officially identified the victim as Steven Q. Vanover, Jr. and confirmed that he died from the gunshot wound. His death was a loss to his surviving father, Stevie Quentin Vanover, Sr., and his brother, Calvin Rigdon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Samuels. Following his death, his family chose cremation as his final arrangement.
